Pattaya, 17th February 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 3.20am,  Sub-Lt. Phanlop Ringrod a Pattaya Police Investigator, along with the police task force and police volunteers set up the check point in front of Tiphan gold shop, Soi Sophon Market, across from Soi17, South Pattaya, Moo10, Nongprue, Banglamung and performed random searches in the hope of locating stolen property and illegal drugs.

Following the current “no tolerance” police policy, urine tests were employed to identify those under the influence of drugs. It is hoped that by catching users, information will be gained concerning their suppliers and ultimately to the major profiteers of this foul trade.

In total, the operation resulted in the apprehension of 6 teenage male drug users and one Cambodian, Mr. Salon Um (24) who is employed illegally as a security man.
Mr. Um confessed that he smuggled himself over the Thai border from Cambodia and got on the bus straight to Pattaya to seek work. He has been working as a security guard at a hotel.
The suspects were detained in custody at Pattaya Police Station pending further enquiries.
