Khon Kaen, the 6th of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: The Kings Cup is Chan’s first career title, winning on Sunday following a three way play-off with Simon Yates and Nick Redfern. Chan’s final round score of 2-under 70 created a three-way tie at the top of the leader board, with all three golfers on 14-under 274 for the tournament.

The first play-off hole saw all three golfers make par before the second hole undid Redfern and Yates, both missing their birdie attempts leaving victory in the hands of Chan who successfully holed his chance. Chan’s best finish prior to the Kings Cup win was a fifth placing at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters in October of this year.

Two strokes behind the leaders in a tie for forth place was Prayad Marksaeng [65] and Harmeet Kahlon [66] who both finished on 12-under 276 for the tournament. Prayad managed to overcome the inconsistency that had plagued him in the earlier rounds sinking five birdies and an eagle in a late flourish, bringing him level with Harmeet for a share of forth.

In fifth place there was a three-way tie once again, between Kim Dae-Hyun [66], Anirban Lahiri [68] and Rahil Gangjee [71]. Rahil will be upset with his final round play, having been heavily in contention for the title all throughout the last three rounds, only to fall at the last hurdle.
