Chan at 5-Under Retaining Kings Cup Lead

Khon Kaen, the 5th of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: Heading into the final round of the Kings Cup Tournament today Taiwanese golfer Chan has a handy 2 shot lead over Simon Yates and Rahi Gangjee who are tied for second place.

The 32 year old Chan shot 5-under 67 to retain the lead in the inaugural Kings Cup Tournament with 12-under 207 overall. Chan’s third round included an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys.

The 32-year-old Taiwanese golfer had an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys in the third round to keep a two-shot lead at 12-under 204 overall. “I started with a birdie on the second and that was good for my confidence,” said Chan, who is seeking his first Asian Tour title. “I dropped a shot on the ninth hole after my ball found water but I kept my composure,” explained Chan.

Simon Yates [66] and Rahil Gangjee [68] are tied in second place on 202 with Mark Purser [65] and Nick Redfern [68] tied for forth place a further 2 shots behind on 200.

Rahil Gangjee who is tied for second place stated, “The goal is always to win though I didn’t really expect it,” Gangjee said. “I’m happy to be in this position.”
