PATTAYA – July 8,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; at Pattaya City Hall, Mr.Chakorn Kanchanawatta-chief district of Bang Lamung- chaired a conference to discuss the control of minibuses in Pattaya.

Mr.Sinchai Wattanasartsathorn-director of Pattaya business and tourism- said that the problem is ongoing even though the officials had asked for collaboration from the operators. The police officers had arrested some wrongdoers. However, some still parked in prohibited areas especially in front of Central Plaza Pattaya Beach and the entrance to Walking Street.

Mr.Chakorn said that drivers still broke the rules and the law wasn’t being enforced. Traffic congestion always occurs in front of Central Plaza even though the police had arrested wrongdoers who broke the rules.

In order to try and solve the problem the officials intended to install CCTV on beach road to record all the incidents caused by people break the traffic rules. They then may be banned from driving.

Mr.Sanit Boonmachay- said that he supported the idea but he needed the officials to maintain the CCTV systems because they had spent over 100 million baht on CCTVs around Pattaya but only 10% of them were still working.
