RAYONG – April 21, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 7 a.m., a report of a woman’s body being found near the trash area opposite of soi Samrit, Paknam, Muang, Rayong, was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Mitchai Singhakarn, special detective officer, of Muang Rayong police station.

He went to check the scene with Pol. Col. Sukitti Sawaikiat, director of Muang Rayong, Pol. Col. Kiti Sirikosh, the scholar detective officer, Pol. Lt. Col. Nawin Theerawit, vice director of Muang Rayong police station, and the detective team, along with Dr.Witchu Lattiwonsakorn M.D., the doctor of the shift of Rayong hospital, the forensic authorities of Rayong, and the staff of Sawangpornkusol foundation Rayong.

At the crime scene, officers found the woman near the trash area, wearing jeans and an orange long sleeved shirt, with her head covered by a fertilizer bag. She was lying on her back on a bronze and pink Turbo brand Master bicycle. Her wrists were tied, and her legs were chained and locked to the bicycle.

The authorities opened the fertilizer bag and saw her face was covered by paper tape. Her eyes were swollen and black and blue. Above her eyebrows, there were black and blue bruises, and the right side of her head had a long cut. On her back there were black and blue marks, like she had been hit. The doctor said she had been dead less than 24 hours.

Police did not find any document to identify her, but from questioning a Cambodian laborer who came to see the corpse, officers discovered that she was Mrs. Chiang, Cambodian, 40 years old, working as a sewing worker in Wat Lum market. She was living at an apartment in soi 6, Paknam.

A nearby neighbor, Mrs. Anusorn Suisuang, 53 years old, living at the house number 32/8, said that at 3 a.m., she heard the sound of a woman crying out in soi Samrit 1, near the crime scene, but she did not come out to check. In the morning, she saw people had crowded to see the corpse lying near the trash.

Pol. Col. Sukitti Sawaipong, director of Muang Rayong, said it appeared one or two people had murdered the victim, either to rob her, or in a fit of homicidal rage, as evidenced by the brutalized corpse. Because her head was covered by a fertilizer bag, and her hands tied, with her feet bound to a bicycle, it appeared she got killed at another place, before being brought here to dump.

Police are questioning the Cambodian workers who know her and knew where she lived, which was near the crime scene. Officers are also waiting for a warrant to search her room.
Several neighbors told the police that Mrs. Chiang rode her bicycle to work every day, and she always wore a gold necklace. So she could have been killed by thieves to rob her property.
