Bus Van Operator Shooting in Borwin

Two gunmen shot a bus van operator to death in Borwin, Sriracha, Chon Buri. The motive is presumed to be either a conflict of business interest or private problems.

Sriracha, 16th February 2011[Pattaya Daily News]: Pol. Lt. Col. Phonlaklit Khamsathien (Borwin Police Chief Inspector) from Sriracha, Chon Buri was notified by the Piew Yieng Thai Sriracha Rescues Foundation of a shooting at Borwin Partnership (bus van service point –Borwin to Victory Monument line), 331 Road, direction Chon Buri, opposite the Borwin Sub-Investigation Unit. It resulted one man dead. Subsequently, an team was dispatched to investigate at the scene.

On arrival beside the ticket sales desk, the police team discovered the deceased body of Mr.Thaworn Phiengdee (46) from 222/80, Borwin, Sriracha, Chon Buri, operator of the bus van ‘Borwin Partnership’. The body was lying face up, in a pool of blood clad wearing only a red towel. Aou Udom Hospital’s pathologist performed an autopsy finding gunshot wounds on the right upper arm and on the chest, two of which had exited gunshots through the back, on the right ear and on the right cheek passing through the head.

Witnesses reported that they saw 2 men park a bronze Toyota Vigo pickup at the scene and go directly to the deceased man whilst he was washing his blue Chevrolet pickup. Instantly, the two offenders pulled their guns and fired several gunshots into him, causing him to fall down to the ground. They escaped in their pickup, speeding off in the direction of Hemmarat Estate.

On examination, the police found four .38 and two 11mm shells left at the scene. The police team had followed the offenders into the Hemmarat Estate, discovering their pickup left at the cassava farm at the back of the estate. Its had showed bfrontaln collision damaged.The pickup registration plate shown was found to be a fake one covering the real one Thor Sor(ถส)-3047 BKK.

Pol. Col. Supthee Bunkhrong (Chon Buri Police Deputy Superintendent) had come to inspect the suspects’ pickup finding four shotgun bullets left with the vehicle document to collect for evidence. At the briefing, it was already known who the offenders were and the Borwin investigating officers were close on their heels. The motive is presumed to be either of 2 points; a conflict of interest about the bus van concerning the many illegal van service points in Sriracha, or a private problem. Investigation is continuing and the police are confident of apprehending the perpetrators shortly.
