Burmese Tourist Deceived by Arabic man in Pattaya

A white Arabic man tricked a Burmese tourist into looking at his money which he had just exchanged into Thai baht. He then stole 15,000 THB before handing back the money and fleeing the scene.

PATTAYA – June 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; MR SOE LIN, 29 years old Burmese, went to notify Pol.Lr.Capt, Yom Promsart, detective officer of Muang Pattaya police station, Chonburi, that he was tricked by a white Arabic man who took 15,000 baht from him which he had just exchanged. The thief then fled in the direction of Pattaya second road, moo 9, Nongprue, Banglamoong.

 

MR.SOE LIN told the police that after he had exchanged his Dollars to Thai Baht, he walked passed a minimart where he met a white Arabic man, who acted like he wanted some help. He told him that he had 100 dollars but he don’t know how to use money, the Burmese tourist explained how to exchange the money and how much Thai baht he would get by 100 dollars.

 

The Burmese tourist then took out all his money to show the white Arabic man who looked at it and started counting who then started talking about lots of different things whilst holding onto the money. He then returned the money and walked away leaving the Burmese tourist with his money but once he counted it he found that 15,000 THB was missing and realised he had been tricked so he notified the police.

 

After investigation, the police recorded the incident in the police journal and co-ordinated with the detective teams to find the man and to check all the CCTV cameras around the scene to see if the cameras had caught his image so he can be arrested and punished.
