CHONBURI – July 13, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- during the night Panthong police were notified that a large group of Burmese labourers were fighting each other. Therefore the police officers were accompanied with Sawang Utthayan rescue team and Tri Khunnatham rescue team who rushed to the labour camp in Panthong district, Chonburi.

At the scene the officers arrested 50 Burmese labourers who were fighting each other and separated the 2 heads of the labourers. Upon inspecting the incident there were 34 Burmese labourers who took part in the fighting. The officers found out that previously the company had told the labourers that they are to start work at 06.30am instead of 07.00am to avoid traffic congestion. Most of them agreed but 34 of them disagreed and tried to force all the other labourers to disagree which started an argument and led to them all fighting.

Initially no one was severely injured and the officers told them to calm down and stop arguing otherwise they will be arrested. The labourers then dispersed and went back to their rooms.
