Sattahip, 19 May 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Sergeant Rouy Sap Rak Issara and the security guard of Ban Chong Samaesan security informed Police Captain Ekkachai Moonlee (Sattahip Police Investigator) that a drowning male body was found at Pitak Mongkol Jetty.

At the quay, the topless body in blue jeans was taken out of the water by the rescue team, a Sattahip officer said.
Earlier that day, during their patrol the security guard and volunteer police team encountered a group of suspicious Burmese fishermen at the quay, Police Sergeant Rouy Sap Rak Issara reported.

When they approached the Burmese group for questioning, the fishermen ran away towards the jetty and all jumped into the water trying to escape, he continued.

However, this particular suspect could not swim away and hence was drowned in front of the officers.

According to the Police Sergeant Rouy-Sap, the officers tried to rescue the victim but they were unsuccessful.
Police Captain Ekkachai believed that the drowning victim was one of the illegal Burmese immigrants working as a fisherman at the jetty.

He jumped into the water possibly trying to escape from being exposed even though he could not swim, Captain Ekkachia added.

The body was sent to Sattahip Hospital for an autopsy examination.
