Sattahip, the 23rd of June 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 11:00am on Wednesday, Sawang Boriboon Foundation radio center received a call from a local fisherman stating that a buck had been spotted struggling in the sea water off the coast of Baan Ampher beach.

The Sawang Boriboon Foundation immediately dispatched a rescue boat to the scene but were unable to locate the animal until after approximately 1 hour the animal was spotted floating, dead, in the sea. Rescuers noted that the beast was a male deer, estimated at 3 years-old, weighing approximately 100kg. The antlers, although not fully developed, were 50cm in length.

Investigations with various local witnesses revealed that the buck had jumped into the sea having been frightened during the early morning rain. The severe weather and rough seas resulted in the buck being quickly washed out to sea, whilst residents were unable to assist.

The Sawang Boriboon Foundation revealed that the animal would now be sent to the taxidermist, following which it will go on display at the Sawang Boriboon Foundation for the benefit of children and members of the general public.
