PATTAYA – December 18, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12:20 a.m., police teams raided three soi Buakhao pharmacies for dispensing impotence drugs without the required prescriptions.

The raids were coordinated by Pol. Col. Kreetha Tankhanarat, Superintendent, Chonburi province, acting to help the Center of Protecting Children and Women and Subduing of Human Trade, section 2, Chonburi province; together with Pol. Sub. Lt. Nithit Krairat, Deputy Inspector, Banglamung police station.

The raids came about after a police investigation revealed that pharmacies in Pattaya were illegally selling the smuggled erectile dysfunction drugs to foreigners and Thai people without fear of legal penalties.

The first police team raided the SJ pharmacy shop at 28/7 Moo 9 Tambon Nong Preu, and arrested Mrs. Pisolya Ngoh-pok, age 30, who was taking care of the shop.

The second police team raided the Smile Dus shop at 111/167 Moo 9 Tambon Nong Preu, and arrested an employee, Ms. Sirikarn Visutthiphaet, age 25.

The third police team raided the Chonya shop at 68/1 Moo 9 Tambon Nong Preu. All of the 3 shops were located in Soi Buakhao in central Pattaya.

The police seized large quanties of impotence drugs in many brands such as Viagra and Super Kamagra, both in pill form and in small bags, that were worth many tens of thousands of THB.

The police crackdown on illegal sales of ED drugs was ordered by Chonburi police commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Katcha Thartsart. He said that selling such drugs without prescriptions can be dangerous for buyers who may unknowingly be allergic to the medication, and they could die from allergic shock.

So the commander ordered police units to investigate the pharmacies making illegal sales. Undercover agents were sent to various Pattaya pharmacies to make lure purchases, in order to catch and arrest the sellers. The Pattaya police will continue to investigate to find more pharmacies smuggling and selling impotence drugs illegally.
