RAYONG – September 20, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 6:30 a.m., a report of a man being shot was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Paithoon Tangkwampian, detective inspector, Klang police station, Rayong. He informed Pol. Col. Thanasak Panyam, the director of Klang police station, who rushed to the scene.

The shooting occurred in room number 51/16, moo 2, Klang, Rayong. Police discovered a pile of blood, teeth and gums strewn around the room. The injured man had been taken to Klang hospital, while the suspect had escaped on his motorcycle.

Witnesses told police that the injured man was Mr. Seenin Janthasit, or Nueng, age 34, whose home town was 92 moo 9, Sator, Khao Saming, Trat. The victim is currently living in the rented room. Witnesses said that Mr. Seenin has been selling meth drugs to teenage students in the area.

That morning, they heard people quarreling, and then the sound of a gunshot. They then saw the troublemaker riding away. Witnesses described the suspect as tall man who looked Eurasian. He works in a no-name karaoke bar on the side of Klang- Wanjan Road, they said.

Pol. Col. Thanasak commanded his forces to follow the man. A bystander then told police they saw the suspect on his motorcycle driving into a fish pond area in Prasae, Rayong.

The police officers followed up and arrested Mr. Songkran Jantawong, age 33, whose home town is 37/1 Soi 49 Phaholyothin Rd, Chatuchak, Bangkok . Police seized the evidence of a gun and a no. 20 size bullet shell stuck in the chamber.

During questioning, Mr. Songkran admitted that he shot a pistol into Mr. Seenin’s mouth. He said it was because he had given Mr. Seenin meth on credit, and was supposed to be repaid after the drugs were sold.

Mr. Songkran had arranged with his supplier, a big drug dealer in Rayong, to give him the drugs on credit, as a favor to his friends. Mr. Songkran used his money from drug dealing mainly for his daily living expenses.

On the day of the shooting, Mr. Songkran had come to see Mr. Seenin in the early morning to collect the drug debt. He suspected that if he came later, Mr. Seenin would have escaped.

Mr. Songkran discovered that Mr. Seenin did not have money to pay for the new shipment of meth, even though the drug supplier of Mr. Songkran had given Mr. Seenin previous chances many times.

Mr. Songkran then discovered that Mr. Seenin had used up all the money from sales of the previous batch, and could not repay the debt in order to receive the new drugs.

The two men began arguing, when Mr.Songkran saw that Mr. Seenin had a pistol. So he snatched it and put the gun to Mr.Songkran’s mouth to threaten him. But the trigger was too light, so the gun fired itself, splattering Mr. Seenin’s teeth and gum tissue from his mouth around the room.

However, Pol. Col. Thanasak did not believe Mr.Songkran’s claim that it was not his gun. He said he will wait for Mr. Seenin to recover and question him about what happened. Meanwhile, police will continue interrogating both men to expand the case and find other dealers involved in the meth network.
