PATTAYA – March 30, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 08.30, Pol.Capt. Pitak Nernsaeng, police officer of the shift was notified that a foreigner fell from a building behind A building, of Niran Grand Condotel, Arunothai, Central Pattaya, moo 9, Nongprue, Banglamung. The police rushed to the crime scene with Pol.Col.Chaiyaporn Tongnapiang, police foreces and rescuers from Sawangboriboon Thamasathan foundation, Pattaya.

At the crime scene a 6 storey condominium was the body of Mr Philip Lee Atkins, 63 years old from Briton lying on his side with a broken left arm and a wire tied around his neck. In his pocket the police found a letter telling his wife a Miss Parinyakorn Jinda, 30 years old that if he died could she contact a Mr Martin Graham Atkins his older brother living in Phuket.

The police then went up to the room number 502/414, on the sixth floor where they didn’t find any traces of foul play. On the terrace cage the officers found a black wire tied to it which they took for evidence. Upon questioning a neighbour the neighbour told police that he had lived there since November with his wife and they always quarrelled because his wife went out and didn’t come back for days at a time.

After investigation the police thought that he was upset and sad so he killed himself, but the wire accidentally snapped which caused his body to fall 6 floors to the ground. However the police will send the body for an autopsy at the forensic institute and will contact his relatives later.
