Pol.Lt.Col. Sompol Nakkumpun, Pattaya Police Investigator, received notification at 06.00 am, on 28 May, from the Pattaya Memorial Hospital that a foreign tourist had been brought into the hospital after having been attacked and badly beaten up. A police team was sent to investigate the incident.

At the hospital, police questioned a Mr. Peter, [35], an English national, who was in a seriously injured condition and he could only tell the police that he had been beaten up by two Thai women and two Thai men. The incident happened at the beginning of Soi Pattaya 10, off Pattaya Beach Road. The victim maintained that the four Thais had laid into him with a large, thick wooden stick. He had sustained a 5-cm-long wound to his head, his face was swollen and his left arm was broken and twisted out of shape.

Police then rushed to question eye witnesses at the incident location. They found evidence of fighting and the area covered in bloodstains. Witnesses said they had initially heard a Thai woman and Mr. Peter engaged in a heavy argument because he had not paid her for her sexual favours. After the heavy argument, the woman had disappeared and then returned with another female and two male friends in tow. The group then started to attack Mr. Peter with a wooden stick, until he was knocked to the ground. They then disappeared, leaving the victim for the people who had subsequently gathered around to take him to hospital.

After noting all the information from the witnesses, police filed a report and will question Mr. Peter when he has sufficiently recovered and will continue to search for the culprits and bring them to justice.
