Mr Solomon Mardsen, the head of the Reproductive Health Sector in the Ministry of Health represented Cabinet minister Mrs Charity Ngilu. Mardsen said awareness of the disease was low. “Some people go for treatment late, when the disease is at an advanced stage.

They are forced to undergo chemotherapy among other treatments to save their lives,” Mardsen said. Speaking at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi yesterday, Mardsen said the Government was setting up equipment for checking different kinds of cancer.

He asked the private sector to partner with the Government and educate people on the need for regular checkups. Ms Mary
