Brave Taxi Driver Fights Off Tomboy Thief

A brave taxi driver fought against a tomboy who used a knife to rob him. The tomboy asked him to drive to a deserted place where she tried to rob him resulting in both of them being injured.

PATHUM THANI – January 19, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 4.30 a.m. Pol. Lt. Col. Thewin Khoomkaew (the expert investigation officer of Thanyaburi police station, Pathum Thani province) was notified by the officer of Thanyaburi Center Detention Camp (Soi Khlong Kwang community) Moo 2 Tambon Rangsit, Amphur Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani province, that there was an incident were a thief robbed a taxi driver which resulted in both of them getting injured. So he rushed to inspect the scene together with Pol. Col. Niruth Prasitthimate (Superintendent of Thanyaburi police station) and forces of detective police team of Thanyaburi police station and the volunteer officers of Por Tek Tueng foundation.

At the incident the officers found a green and yellow Toyota taxi, license number MOR CHOR-5354 Bangkok and a Mr. Jamroen Phennadee, aged 59 the taxi driver from Roiet. He had been injured and suffered many wounds to his body which were bleeding. Nearby was a Ms. Atchararat Janthra, aged 24, from Nonthaburi province, she had been stabbed and was lying down on the road so the officers rushed her to Pathum Thani hospital.

Mr. Jamroen (the taxi driver) told police that he picked up Ms. Atchararat who is a tomboy from the area of Don Mueang and took her to Khlong 5, Amphur Thanyaburi but when they arrived at Khlong 5 Ms. Atchararat told him to carry on driving until they arrived at the incident point in front of a centre Detention Camp, he then asked Ms. Atchararat where she would get out. Ms. Atchararat then told him that she didn’t have money so Mr. Jamroen told her to get out and he would not charge her for the taxi fare but suddenly Ms. Atchararat took out a knife and pointed it at him and forced him to get out of the cab. She then moved to the front passenger seat and they started to fight and stabbed each other until both of them were injured. Later on Mr. Damrong Yoomthaisong who is an officer at the Center Detention Camp heard the commotion and notified the police.

Pol. Col. Niruth said that initially the detective police team had sequestrated the defendant first and this incident might be that the defendant tried to deceive the victim to rob his property but fortunately a bystander saw the incident and intervened.
