SATTAHIP – September 30, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 1 a.m., a report of someone throwing a bomb into a house was received by Pol. Lt. Capt. Nares Boontee, detective officer on shift duty at Sattahip police station. So he rushed to the scene with Pol. Col. Chanapat Nawalak, director of Sattahip police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Prakorb Sangpring, vice director of suppression division; Pol. Lt. Col. Thapanat Chayapat, the detective inspector; and detective forces.

The bombing incident occurred at house number 39/16 soi Sukhumvit 13 (Roongroj), moo 4,Sattahip, Sattahip, Chonburi. The 1-story house is encircled by fences, located on the soi.

Waiting for the police to arrive were the home’s owners, Mr. Sarawut Roongroj, age 44, and Ms. Kesarin Rueanglue, age 29. The couple was standing outside their house in shock, after the thrown bomb made a big hole in the front area of their house. Shrapnel from the exploding bomb had shattered many mirrors in the front area of the home. The police checked the scene and found yellow aluminum scraps widely scattered throughout the area, which forensic officers took to examine.

During questioning, the couple told police that they had been in the bedroom with their children. They heard the sound of a passing motorcycle just before the bomb detonated. The blast shook the house. They rushed out of the house to see what was happening, and discovered a big crater in the grass in front of the house.

Luckily, no one got hurt or died. Mr. Sarawut suspected that the unknown bomb thrower was an enemy he had fought with several months ago. He told police that his enemy had decided to seek revenge by throwing the bomb into his house to threaten him.

Pol. Lt. Capt. Nares Boontee said it appears the criminal did not want to kill the occupants in the house, and just wanted to threaten them, due to the previous personal conflict. The police captain invited the victim to submit testimony for the daily record as evidence, and will question the family further to find clues to catch the bomb thrower.
