Pattaya, November 1, 2010, [Pattaya Daily News]: A bronze Honda Jazz being driven from Sattahip to Pattaya by Mr. Athorn Deeprasert [52] from Sattahip on Oct31 suddenly appeared to launch itself into space, ‘fly’ across the Sukhumvit Road central reservation and hit a tree, from where it rebounded, colliding with a pickup driving in the other direction. The pickup driver, Mrs. Janjira Fester [30], unnerved by the accident, apparently then lost control, hit a tree and an electrical pylon 500 metres further up the road before ending up upside down in the dip of the central reservation. The first car continued on the wrong side of the road until it hit another tree and stopped dead. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles before being sent to Queen Sirikit Hospital.

“It was like a scene from a movie,” a witness at the scene told PDN, “I just couldn’t believe what happened.”

A Sawang Rodjanatham Foundation spokesman told PDN that the accident happened at

11.30am on Sukhumvit Road 162-163km, at the u-turn in front of Baan Hinwong School, Sattahip, not far from Nongnuch Gardens. He said when he arrived at the accident scene both drivers were semi-conscious and trapped in their vehicles. When they were eventually extricated, they were both sent to hospital for emergency treatment.

It is not known why Mr. Athorn’s Honda Jazz suddenly took to the air as he is too shocked to interview.
