On 28 December 2007, at 6pm, Pattaya Superintendent, Police Colonel Nopadol Wongnom and a team of police officers announced to the press that a large yaba dealing operation had been busted. Three miscreants were nabbed in this operation. Police arrested Mr. Taweesak Kummoon (18), a ladyboy, from 63 Moo 7, Huahkrai, Maesai, Chiangrai, who had 1956 yaba tablets hidden in his underpants. He was nabbed at ?Baan Suanthiwari?, Tappaya Road, Moo 12, Banglamung, Chonburi. Mr. Taweesak confessed that he had smuggled yaba, obtained from an agent in Chiangrai, on Nok Air flights, many times and had never been caught; up until now, that is. His modus operandi was to hide the illicit tablets in his underpants. However, sometimes, he wrapped the yaba, carefully, around his stomach and dressed like a pregnant woman.

Further questioning revealed the names of the dealers who bought the yaba from Mr. Taweesak. They were Miss Moay, or Nooch, Chinsri (39), from Nakornpanom and Miss Wariya Chaiglow (37), from Ratchaburi. Undercover police set up a buy and bust sting operation on a street near Pattaya Memorial Hospital. Miss Moay and Miss Wariya traveled by baht bus to the prearranged location. Police caught them with 1200 yaba tablets in a plastic bag, along with two mobile phones, which were all kept as evidence. The two women confessed to their wrongdoing and reported that Mr. Taweesak was the gang?s ringleader. Police will probe further, to widen the investigation and hopefully, arrest many more drug dealers in the days to come.
