Big Drug Dealer Escapes After Huay Hai Drug Raid

Huay Yai Police nabbed a considerable quantity of illegal drugs, two dealers and several drug users after apprehending one of the biggest dealers in the area. However, he managed to escape from the police whilst en route to the police station.

Pattaya, 25 October 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: In accordance with the current governmental directives to crack down on illegal drug use, police in Huay Hai have stepped up their surveillance generally. The big dealer in the area himself, Mr. Somsak, was initial questioned by a police officer on a regular patrol in the neighbourhood of Khaobunmeedararam Temple, Moo1, Huay Yai. Being subjected to a search, the officer found a small bag of Yah-ice, 2 mobile phones on his person. His black Honda CVR motorbike was impounded as evidence.

Mr. Somsak confessed that he had more drugs in his residence and subsequently investigating officers found 900 gram of Yah-Ice kept in a bag under the table in a stache and 20,000 Yah Ba pills. The suspect was taken into custody and a further operation initiated to catch other suspected gang members.

The police investigative team led by Police Colonel Prakorb Saengphring (Huai Yai Police Chief Inspector) and Police Lieutenant Colonel Phaksuwat Chomthanorm (Investigator) subsequently swooped on a suspected drug gang at 1.30 pm, successfully apprehending a number of suspects. These included Mr. Surasan Khaundee [25] also from Huay Yai caught with 1,352 Yah Ba pills, and three drug users, Mr. Phadung Daorueng [24], Miss Orawan Suwannasri [25] and Mr. Nu [16], along with Mr. Suchat Saihin [34], a robbery suspect, who had stolen a car from a second-hand car dealer.

During their transportation to Huay Yai Police Station, Mr. Somsak somehow managed to jump from the car and escape whilst approaching the Pattaya Police Station area. Police from both areas are currently searching for the escapee.
