Big Belgian Dies After Fall In Bathroom

A Belgian man weighing almost 200 kg apparently fell in his bathroom and died after hitting his head on the floor. His Thai girlfriend told police he had heart disease. Police found no signs of injuries on the man’s body, which was transported to the morgue at Banglamung hospital.

PATTAYA – August 12, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Capt. Pitak Nernsang, officer on duty at Muang Pattaya police station; received a report that a foreigner died in his toilet at house number 353282 in soi 5 Pratomnak, moo 12, Banglamung.

He went to check the scene at a 3-story house. On the third floor, he found Mr. Jean Luc Schmit, a Belgian, who weighed almost 200 kg. He was lying naked on his back and there were no signs of injuries on his body.

Mr. Jean’s Thai girlfriend, Ms. Sawanee, 25, told police they had been together for eight months. She also told the police that he had heart disease.
Prior to the incident, she was sitting with her daughter and Mr. Jean in the room, when Mr. Jean went to the toilet. Then she heard a sound from the bathroom, so she rushed to check. She found that her boyfriend had apparently fallen and his head hit the ground. She called the police, but Mr. Jean died later.

After questioning his girlfriend, the police took photos for evidence and did a daily record. They called the rescue team to bring the body to keep at the morgue of Banglamung Hospital. The police told his girlfriend to contact his relatives to retrieve his body to perform the religious ceremony.
