Belgian Murdered His Wife And Fled To Thailand

Bangkok Immigration police have made a statement about the arrest of a Belgian man who murdered his wife in Belgium then fled to Thailand. He was detained by the police to be repatriated back to Belgium for prosecution.

BANGKOK – February 24, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.00 p.m. at the Immigration Bureau, Soi Suan Phlu, Sathorn road, Pol.Lt.Gen. Phanu Kerdlarpphol (Commissioner) together with Pol.Maj.Gen. Chartchai Eamsaeng (Commander) and the immigration officers made a statement about the arrest of Mr. Tcheou Joel Tcharada, aged 51, Belgian nationality, who was the defendant according to the arrest warrant no. MAJ2014/008-No.30.L1.1664/14 of Verviers Court and the arrest warrant of International Police no. 2014/7096-1 in the offence of homicide which took place in Belgium on January 14, 2014 the police arrested him at the immigration checkpoint of Mittapharp 2 bridge, Mukdahan province.

Pol.Lt.Gen. Phanu said that the officers of Chonburi Immigration Bureau were coordinating with the officers of Belgium Embassy in Thailand to assist in arresting Mr. Tcheou who was the defendant in the allegation of murdering his wife in Belgium and then fled to various countries. He also took the deceased’s belongings such as an iPhone mobile phone, credit cards and ATM cards. Mr. Tcheou had escaped to Thailand on January 24, 2014 by Thai Airways International airline, flight no. TG 931, but on February 21st , 2014 the officers of Mukdahan Immigration Bureau arrested him at the immigration checkpoint of Mittapharbp 2 bridge, Mukdahan province.

Initially, the police had revoked the permission that allowed Mr. Tcheou Joel Tcharada to stay in the kingdom and detained him to be repatriated back to Belgium for further prosecution. The officers of the Belgium Embassy in Thailand came and gave a bouquet of flowers to the commissioner of Immigration Bureau in order to thank them for their assistance.
