Friday 23rd October 2009 [Pattaya Daily News] – Monthly networking functions put on by the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) in the Pattaya area are a regular event, but the recent Oktoberfest party was even bigger and better. This Oktoberfest function was a combined effort with the German Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) and the timing was perfect as it was held on the evening before the Friday public holiday. This gave many out of town visitors the wonderful idea of staying over in Pattaya and taking a few days as a holiday break before returning to Bangkok.

There was also an Automotive Focus Group (AFG) meeting one hour ealier, where members of the Eastern Seaboard Automotive Industry listened to the comments of three panelist speakers regarding the present and future trends within the logistics industry.

From 6.00 pm guests started to arrive in large numbers at the upstairs “Mezz Floor” of the famous “Hardrock Café” on Central Pattaya’s Beach Road. The huge roast pig complete with sauerkraut was just one popular dish amongst the other traditional German foods that were presented by the Hardrock.

As another major sponsor the Hemaraj Land & Development Public Company played more of a low key role, but were no less important, as they specialize in “turn-key” factories offering flexibility, and have assets of over 13-billion baht. They have four major industrial developments in Chonburi, Rayong, Maptaphut, were founded in 1988, and now have a global customer base.

A wide range of quality German beers & wines were supplied by the The Coffee Co, which although founded on coffee distribution, now imports superior quality beers & wines for sale throughout Thailand. The Managing Director, Rico, also gave free samples of some very nice spirits, (such as Schapps) at the end of this very enjoyable evening.

This very friendly social event was quite unusual as it allowed a lot of new business contacts to be made between European based and British business people, with both parties gaining a lot from such a valuable business networking night. ( See the BCCT website – www.bccthai.com )
