Philippines, the 1st of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: A supreme fourth quarter defensive effort by the Patriots saw the Philippine team record their fifth straight win at 77-61, giving them a 6-1 record and retaining their position on-top in the 6 nation league. Thailand on the other hand has now got an undeserved 2-6 record and they remain at the bottom of the league.

Thailand managed to keep the match in the balance for the first three quarters, before a fourth quarter onslaught, backed up by some tough defence, ensured the Patriots grabbed a 16 point lead after having been held to less than 7 all game.

The Patriots Jason Dixon was man of the match with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks, whilst Thailand’s import signing Chaz Twan Briggs did not fail to disappoint for the visitors with 18 points and a match high 22 rebounds.

Philippine coach Louie Alas commented that; “Defensively, we did a great job in the last five games,” once again, “We’ve limited our opponents to less than 70 points.” Further giving praise to the valiant Thai team’s effort saying, “Thailand is no pushover and their import Briggs really knows the game.”

The Patriots, who have recorded the longest winning streak yet in the history of the six-nation league, will shoot for their sixth straight win in the match against Indonesia Satria Muda BritAma on Saturday at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.
