Barbecued Pork Vendor Killed By Lorry Wheel

A barbecue pork vendor woman was killed instantly when a wheel came off the trailer of a lorry. The incident happened on Bangna-Trat road. The police rushed to the scene.

CHACHOENGSAO – February 16, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 7.45 a.m. the police of Bangpakong police station, Chachoengsao province, were notified that there was an accident were a local woman was hit by a wheel off a lorry killing her instantly on Bangna-Trat road, kilometer marker 40-41, exit route, in the direction of Chonburi province, so the officers rushed to inspect at scene.

At the incident near the gate of Hanawa Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. which is the electric lines production factory, the officers found the corpse of a Thai woman. Nearby the incident the officers found a motorbike that was modified for selling barbecued pork, chicken and sausages was parked on the road approximately 10 meters away. Also there were 2 wheels off a lorry on the road.

The dead victim was identified as Mrs. Prasert Yulab, aged 47, Sukhothai resident, which Mrs. Darika Nimking, aged 36, who is an employee of Hanawa Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. told the police that she had just arrived at the factory and saw the wheels rolling down the express way and smashed into the woman. However, Mrs. Darika said that the lorry kept on driving normally and didn’t stop.

Later at 10.30 a.m. on the same day the police were informed that there was an incident involving a lorry in Chonburi in the area of Tambon Nong Mai Daeng, Amphur Mueang, so they rushed to the scene and found a lorry parked on the side of the exit route to Chonburi bypass. It was a Heno lorry with a 22-wheeled trailer and 2 wheels were missing. The driver was a Mr. Nit Thitapan, aged 56.

Mr. Nit told the police that he didn’t know that the wheels had fallen off the lorry and had killed a pork vendor because his lorry is a 3-axled lorry so he didn’t know about its malfunction until he parked to buy some grilled chicken on the side of road and the vendor told him that 2 wheels were missing. Mr. Nit said that he drove the lorry to take the goods from Amphur Lat Krabang, Bangkok to Laem Chabang port and the lorry belongs to T Line Transport Co., Ltd. that are hired to deliver goods for MAERSK Co.

Initially, the police had charged Mr. Nit with the allegation of driving carelessly which caused the death of others.
