Bangsaen’s 8th lucky vehicle registration number auction

301 lucky number plates were auctioned at the weekend in Bangsaen. The numbers, containing mainly the digits 8 and 9, generated an income of more than 30 million baht, the highest bid being 1,100,000 baht for the number กษ (Kor Sor) 9999.

Sriracha, 28 November 2010 (PDN): On the 27th and 28th November the auction of lucky number plates for seven seated vehicles took place at the Tide Resort Hotel, Bangsaen, Chon Buri. The 8th lucky registration auction was chaired by Chonburi governor Mr. Wichit Chatphaisan and Mr. Thianchai Jongphien from the Department of Land Transport along with his team. Attending the auction were many local people, businessmen and local politicians.

301 numbers in the category Kor Sor (กษ), meaning good business and happiness, were prepared, including 8899,9988,8989,9898 8998,9889 and severa; triple numbers and twin double numbers.

The atmosphere at the auction was lively as bidders competed against each other for each lucky registration, leading to higher final prices than last year.
The plate numbers กษ 9999 (Kor Sor 9999) was won by Mr. Wirat Rotjanarun who ended up paying 1,100,000 baht, the highest auction value of the day but still lower than last year’s maximum bid of 1,199,999 baht.

To make the registrations especially unique, each of the 301 Chon Buri plates was decorated with a painting of Bangsaen Beach, and each one had been blessed by monks.

Mr. Jongphien stated that this years auction had attracted a vast number of participitants leading to many lively bidding rounds. He said the atmosphere had been one of good temperament and fun. The total sum collected at the auction was expected to be more than 30 million baht, compared to 20 million baht last year.
