Bangkok Man Caught Following Theft Of 3500 Baht Shoes From North Pattaya Store

A young man from Bangkok who wanted a new pair of shoes for the New Year was arrested for shoplifting from a North Pattaya distribution centre for Puma and Adidas.

Pattaya, 29th December 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At Approximately 22.30 Captain Tonsiti Gaenluem of the Pattaya Police was notified of a theft from ‘The German Lifestyle’, a distribution center for Puma and Adidas clothes, shoes and sports equipment located at Soi Naklua 19, in North Pattaya. When the police arrived they found the criminal had already been apprehended by staff members and the stolen items retrieved – a pair of black Puma sport shoes, worth 3,500 Baht . The thief was identified as Mr Chasorton Erpsapaab (28), of 643/154 Moo1, Kwaeng Klong Gum, Bueng-gum, Bangkok.

The manager of the center, Mr.Sompot Naglab (43), told police that the suspect had been looking around the shop like a regular customer. He was trying on the shoes when, at an opportune moment, he ran out of the centre leaving his old pair of shoes behind. Mr.Sompot and some of his colleagues gave chase and managed to catch him in front of the Dusit hotel nearby. The suspect was told that he would have to pay the 3,500 Baht for the shoes if he wanted to avoid prosecution, but he was not willing to confess to the crime nor co-operate with officials. He insisted he had no money and just wanted a new pair of shoes to wear for the New Year.

He was taken into custody, and the distribution centre have decided to press charges for shoplifting.
