Pattaya, February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]:  In an exclusive interview by PDN, Bangkok Bank’s Executive Vice President, Karen Campbell stated that her job is in consumer products, which includes ATM cards, savings accounts, the electronic channels, ATM call centers and internet banking.

Bangkok Bank has launched a new credit card, named the “China Union Pay Card,” which will be useful for any one planning on a trip to China, because this can be used in 26-countries.  The usual Visa and Master Cards are not always recognized, so this makes any kind of banking or shopping difficult.

The bank is also proud to announce its new “Be 1st Smart Card,” which is a debit card that is produced with an embedded electronic chip, and virtually eliminates credit card fraud. ATM’s read these chip (not the strip), which is then verified back at the bank as the original card and not a copy. These new ATM cards can be used in a number of places all over Thailand where the “Be 1st Smart Card logos are displayed. ATMs are being upgraded to facilitate this use, but is recommended that cards are still held safely and kept in a secure place when not in use.

Bangkok Bank has the largest international funds and although they offer loans, there is not a lot of lending options available for foreigners at the moment, but they will develop these areas in the future if the opportunity arises. An internet banking service is in place and any questions or answers can be obtained via their new guide of approximately 40-pages, which is a great source of information that can be found at any of the Bangkok Bank branches or can be obtained on line at www.bangkokbank.com

Internet banking is strongly recommended as customers can access their accounts, see what is happening on line and arrange their banking as well as international banking and transfers with out having to leave the house, but it is recommended that an up dated virus prediction software is in place. Bangkok Bank is able to find ways of   transferring money internationally at a cost of 300baht flat rate.

Bangkok Bank Central branch on 2nd Road (across from Soi-6) and their Manager Khun Pravit is keen to help any foreigners, who visit his branch requiring help or information, and he can explain their different kinds of banking services
