On 1 January 2008, at 6am, police and Sawang Boriboon Rescue rushed to the Marine Hotel, Moo 10, Nongprue, South Pattaya to aid a man who was seriously injured from fireworks. His left hand was badly burned from the exploding fireworks; his fingers were broken and his arms were badly burned, as well. Mr. Prasits mustache, hair and eyebrow were singed. Officials administered first aid before rushing the victim to the hospital.

Police questioned some bar girls who were still milling about in the area. Mr. Prasit, who resides at 107 Moo 10, Nongprue, is a security guard for the Marine Hotel. He was in a drunken condition before the accident occurred.

Everyone, including Mr. Prasit, was celebrating the New Year. He had bought a one meter long firework and was showing off to all the girls who were gathered around. He put the firework on the ground and lit the fuse. However, the firecracker went off too soon. The explosive force of the pyrotechnic device caused Mr. Prasit to bounce back onto the ground.
