Bad Thai Food Sickens Many Chinese Tourists

About 30 Chinese tourists were treated for symptoms of food poisoning at Bangkok-Pattaya hospital. They had eaten at a Koh Larn restaurant, and later suffered from vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue. Six tourists were kept at the hospital, and the rest given medication and released.

PATTAYA – April 22, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 9:30 a.m., the police of Pattaya police station were notified by Bangkok-Pattaya hospital that there were a lot of Chinese tourists who had diarrhea and came to be cured at the hospital. After being notified, the officers reported to the superior police to acknowledge the report and rushed to inspect the scene.

In an emergency room, police found the doctors and nurses performing first aid for approximately 30 male and female Chinese tourists. Most of them had the symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting and fatigue, but were not in a coma.

Then the doctor cured them and gave them medicine to eat, and allowed some of them to go back to rest at their hotel, and only 6 people had to stay at the hospital.

The tour guide, who declined to reveal his name, said that he was escorting the 30 Chinese tourists from the Kasalong Resort hotel. They got on the boat to travel to Koh Lan for an island tour. In the early morning, they ate food at a restaurant in Koh Larn. Then they were scheduled to visit Ta Waen beach.

But many tourists began having diarrhea, so he hurried to take them back to the shore at Pattaya, and sent all of them to Bangkok-Pattaya hospital. As for the cause of the apparent food poisoning, he assumed it was because of the very hot weather.
