PATTAYA – September 3, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 3 p.m., a report of a thieving bellboy being detained was received Pol. Capt. Chaikananukul, vice suppression inspector, Pattaya police station.

He rushed to the scene at the Citin Lodge hotel, soi 12, middle Pattaya. He discovered the hotel staff holding the accused bellboy. He was identified as Mr. Rangsiman Sangworanuch, age 28, from Taklee, Nakorn Sawarn.

Mr. Rangsiman was caught with 10,260 baht cash and a Bangkok bank ATM card belonging to a hotel guest, Ms. Lak Sangsee, age 38, from Phitsanulok.

Ms. Lak identified the suspect to the police, and gave her testimony. She had come from Pisanulok to travel around Pattaya, and had been staying in the Citin Lodge hotel for many days.

One night she went out to several nightclubs, and when she returned to her room, she discovered her ATM card was missing. When she checked her account, she found that 60,000 baht had been withdrawn using her ATM card.

So she came to the police and asked to see the CCTV in the Family Mart near the hotel. She saw clearly from the camera footage that Mr. Rangsiman was withdrawing her money.

Mr. Rangsiman then confessed to police that he went into Ms. Lak’s room after she left the hotel, using reserve keys to open the door to her room. He then stole her ATM card, and later withdrew 60,000 baht. He had successfully guessed her password PIN from her ID card numbers.

Mr. Rangsiman said he stole the money to pay his outstanding debts. After investigation, the police charged him with stealing other person’s assets at night, and sent him to the detective officer, Pol. Lt. Col. Weerawut Meelai, for prosecution.
