ATM fraud and marijuana charges for French ex-pat

A 32-year-old French man was arrested in Patong on Saturday (May 24) as police found 71 ATM cards, over 77 grams of marijuana, and two bags of hashish.

Police also found a fake passport on Naci Jawad when he was nabbed at the parking lot of Art Patong Apartments at about 10am this morning (May 24).
 
A police investigation, with cooperation from Siam Commercial Bank, found that large sums of money had been withdrawn from an ATM machine in the Srisoonthorn area in Thalang.

At a Press conference at Phuket Police Headquarters, Region 8 Commander Panya Manem told local media that Jawad had been living in Thailand for six years, has no job and lives with his Thai wife.
 
Jawad is alleged to have withdrew at least B200,000 recently, police said. Along with charges of ATM fraud, Jawad was also charged with possession of drug type 5 (marijuana and hashish) with intent to sell.
