At The Movies

This is a column that will attempt to give you the reader some idea of ”what in the world can I do with my life” well, not really. This is actually just my opinion on what might and might not be good out there, as far as film is concerned. Everything else about the world you will have to figure out for yourself. Unless you are a beautiful, honest, hard working, single girl, who needs a place to stay. We might need to talk!???

Now what you will never find in my column is a retelling of a movie. I personally hate “reviewers” who do nothing more then tell the story, and give away all the fun of discovering the movie for yourself. That is not a review. It seems to me they just don’t have anything original to say. And are just filling in lines for their editors. So I am hoping you might be like me, I just want to know if it is worth 100 baht. That is what you will find out from me.

Bus Lane

This is the Thai version of Speed (Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock) with that unique Thai spin to it. Run do not walk to see this movie, especially because it is about to leave the theaters. This is a very funny flix and I would definitely recommend it for anyone with a couple of hours to spare. Ok so some of the humor is rather juvenile, but the story is set in Bangkok, in a kind of gritty day to day atmosphere, that lends a sense of drama, to an otherwise rather ridiculous situation. And just to add to the confusion it takes place on Songkran. Nice touch that.

So all you guys out there with Thai girlfriends, this is the movie to take her to. I guarantee she will get a kick out of this film. And you can improve your Thai language skills and maybe have a little more understanding of that wonderful humorous side of Thai culture. Worth 100 plus friend 200 baht / Yes.
