Arabian Gang Stole 100,000 THB from Exchange Booth

An Arabian gang stole foreign banknotes totaling almost 100,000 THB after they tricked the booth worker into showing them what foreign money she had. They then grabbed all the money before fleeing the scene.

PATTAYA – May 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1.30 a.m.; Miss Duangmanee Chalongdech, aged 25, who is an officer of a money exchange booth of S.S. Excent Co., Ltd., went to notify Pol.Lt. Wattana Pradit (Inquiry official of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) that there was an Arabian gang who acted like they wanted to exchange money but they took the opportunity to steal foreign money totalling almost 100,000 THB then fled the scene. CCTV had captured the images of the 2 thieves. The Incident occurred at a money exchange booth of S.S. Excent Co., Ltd. which is located in front of Koneko Oshiri beer bar on the side of Pattaya second road, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

Miss Duangmanee told the police that 2 foreign men who looked like Middle Eastern asked to exchange 1 banknote of 100 dollars for two 50 dollars notes but when she gave them the two 50 dollar notes they then asked to exchange more money and asked to see the A.D. year (Anno Domini) on each banknote so Miss Duangmanee got out all the banknotes and let them choose, then suddenly they grabbed all the money and fled the scene. After that Miss Duangmanee checked all the banknotes and found that U.S. dollars, Euro, etc. that had been exchanged that day totaling almost 100,000 THB had been stolen.

The police made a record for evidence; however, the officers will inspect the pictures of the 2 culprits from the CCTV footage in order to arrest them so they can be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
