Another Loan Gang Caught In Pattaya

Police officers and soldiers have caught two debt collectors who had been ordered from a loan capitalist to go and collect debts off debtors of 60% per month in Pattaya.

PATTAYA – July 20, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- at 00.30 am soldiers and police officers arrested Mr.Pongsakorn Ngamjad aged 20 and Mr.Wanthana Budtree aged 26 with 4,620 baht and some belongings that they had confiscated from their debtors. The officers were inspecting a house in Chokchai village where the police also found loan documents and loan contracts.

 

Upon questioning the 2 defendants they confessed that they had been ordered by their capitalist in Chanthaburi province to collect money from his debtors. They had collected 60% interest per month. If the debtors couldn’t pay they would take their belongings.

Previously Mrs.Nonglak Timisakul aged 46 notified the police that she had loaned 40,000 baht from them and she needed to pay 800 baht per day interest. She also added that she had been threatened if she didn’t pay the debt and they would call her a scold her so she decided to call the police.

 

Pol.Col.Suppatee Boonkrong-acting superintendent of Pattaya police station- had questioned the victim and gave her his phone number so that she can call him if she is threatened again. Plus he had ordered officers to protect her and her house.
