A group of men fishing in Sark Mark Reservoir got more than they bargained for when they came across a dead body floating in the reservoir earlier today. It is assumed that the body, which has not yet been identified, had been murdered elsewhere and then dumped in the reservoir to throw investigators off the scent. Police said the man had been dead for more than 10 hours.

Responding to an emergency call from the fishermen at 7.am today, Monday, a police team, led by Pol.Maj. Winai Ho-ruean, arrived at Sark Mark Reservoir, Huay Yai, Banglamung, to investigate what they suspect is a murder. The incident was located about 5 kms off Road No. 331 in a densely forested tapioca plantation. The dead man is reckoned to be between 25 to 30 years-old. He was wearing a Buddha image around his neck and a yellow, plastic wrist band, bearing the words “We Love the King” on his left wrist. He had a tattoo of a Thai figure on the back of his neck with the English word “OOP” in its centre.
The man was wearing a cream T-shirt with black sleeves and patterned blue shorts. He had sustained multiple .38 bullet wounds to his left hand palm, and middle and right chest, while one bullet was buried behind his left ear. There was also evidence of his being stabbed in his left chest. There was no identification on in his body.

Mr. Boonrod Boonjit, (30), one of the fishermen, told police that he had been fishing in the reservoir with five friends from Rayong province, early in the morning. While searching for some shells to use as fishing bait in some clumps of grass, he had been shocked to see a dead body floating on the surface of the reservoir. He then called out to friends to notify the police straight away.

Officials declared that there was no evidence that the dead man had been in a fight, nor were there any bullet holes in his T-shirt. It is assumed the man was killed somewhere else and dumped in the reservoir to confuse investigators. Initially, police still could not identify the dead man, or ascertain why he had been killed. The investigation team are continuing their investigations.
