Angry Thai Male Fires a Hand Gun in a Hospital, Staff, Patients and Police Officers were Frightened

The angry male stated that he was a Police Officer, from the Subduing Drugs Task Force and that all his friends had died recently. He fired a handgun in the Hospital, which frightened the Hospital Staff and Patients.

PATTAYA – April 15, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 03.00, Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent, Pattaya Police Station, mobilized his forces to investigate a report of an extremely angry Thai male, who appeared to have consumed illegal drugs. It was also reported that he had a handgun in his hand and the male was walking at the beginning of Soi Photisarn crossing with Sukhumvit Road, Moo 5, Tambon Naklua, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi Province. The Police rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Police Officers observed that the male had been taking drugs and became angry, he was shouting and there was a hand gun in his right hand. The male walked along the street and walked into Bangkok Hospital Pattaya , where he fired the hand gun at the floor and the door of the Hospital causing damage. The Hospital Staff, Patients and Police Officers were frightened and attempted to escape, so as not to get injured. The Police subdued and arrested the male, in his possession was a Glock 9mm hand gun and 3 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Upon questioning the male claimed to be Pol. Sgt. Maj. Vimol, also known as Pom Sridavong, 36 years of age and that he was a Police Officer, from the Subduing Drugs Task Force. He further stated in an aggressive manner that all his friends and his Superior Officer had died recently, which left only himself. The Investigating Officers did not believe his story.

The Police charged him with Consuming Illegal Drugs, carrying a hand gun into a Town, Village or Public Space, without permission and firing a hand gun in a Public Place without permission and necessary cause.

Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station said that he will investigate the true identity of the male and he will coordinate with the Officers from the Subduing Drugs Task Force, to discover if the male is a member of that task force or not. He also stated that the hand gun is now evidence and that his team will investigate the origins of the Glock 9mm weapon. He further stated that the Police believe that the male is not a member of the Subduing Drugs Task Force, but he may have a friend in that organization, according to the names that the male used upon his arrest. The Police speculated that the cause of the incident may be down to the male consuming illegal drugs that tipped him over the edge and caused him to become extremely angry and aggressive.
