On October 30 2008 at 3.30 a.m. Pattaya police patrolman Sergeant Major Narin Yimpong was in the vicinity of walking street and Pattaya Second Road when he came across Mr. Markadam Cottham , an American tourist (45), who was running towards him complaining he’d been set up by a kratoey.

Mr. Cottham explained that he went with the kratoey to a room behind Shoes department store. While they were having sex, he said, there must have been another person in the room because he was with her/him all the time but after they parted company he found that all the money in his wallet was missing. It had been replaced by a stack of paper. He said that on leaving him, the Katoey headed towards the direction of the Wat Chai Mongkol Temple.

After receiving the necessary information, police joined forces with the tourist police and managed to find a suspect, Mr. Suwan Gunha (Nongpa) (39) residing at 123/9 Wangkam, Pechboon, who was walking around Mike Shopping Mall on Second Road.

Mr. Gunha confessed to the crime and told police that he had a friend waiting under the bed to clean out the victim’s wallet while they were having sex. Police found 1,120 baht in his bag. He also had a mobile phone, a tablet of yah bah and a big stack of paper, the same size as bank notes.

He explained that he had been using the same room for his business for quite some time. Most of his victims are foreign tourists. This time, his friend, Mr. Mamee, had sneaked into the room and hid under the bed. The victim said he lost more than 2000 dollars so it was presumed that Mr. Mamee had the money with him. Police will now search for Mr. Mamee to bring him to justice.
