All seasons hotel – Affordable Comfort in the heart of Thailand’s most popular beach resor

We arrived at this extremely well appointed, newly renovated hotel, which is centrally located and gives easy access to the whole of Pattaya, around 6 pm, just before dusk. Aptly named, the All Seasons Hotel can ably cater to every taste, any time of the year.

Although the All Seasons only has a three star rating, the comfortable accommodation, standard of food, general service and general ambiance will almost certainly mean that it is upgraded in the very near future. Managed by Accor Hotels, the international hotel group, one is assured of having a pleasant stay and, although quite large, the managements’ personal attention made us feel that we were in a small boutique hotel.

Mr. Lars Alund, the General Manager and Khun Sirigesinee Chavanothai made us a warmly welcome at the hotel entrance. The water features in the lobby area made an immediate impression and made us feel calm and suitably relaxed; just what you need after hectic travelling, or an exuberant night out on the town. Many of guests were sitting around, which is significant in itself as they obviously appreciated the hotel’s ambiance rather than going elsewhere, and many of them were enjoying the buffet dinner in the large coffee shop in the West Wing. Incidentally, at only 350 Baht per head, the All Season’s lavish buffet is extremely good value for money and highly recommended.

After we had introduced ourselves, the GM led us to an Executive Room on the 4th Floor, to give us an idea of the accommodation on offer. It was decorated in contemporary fashion, with a stylish yet welcoming decor, which made it very cosy. We couldn’t resist sitting on the comfortable daybed near the window, just to try it out. A welcome basket of fruit and flowers was placed in the corner of the room. Always a good sign, meaning the hotel administration has their guests’ interests at heart.

Taking a leisurely stroll around the facilities, we came first to the pool area, which is located on the 3rd Floor. A wooden walkway led us to the pool bar; a nice rustic touch. The pool, itself, has a black granite bottom, surrounded by typically Thai features, such as the turtle fountain, with tropical shrubs and water-filled plant pots nestling in discrete corners; very exotic and relaxing. You can just imagine the effect the tranquillity will have upon stressed-out bodies and minds; especially lazing by the pool, savouring an exotic cocktail, or an ice-cold Margarita, mixed by the experienced, genial bartender.

Although the hotel is in the centre of the city, one might have been in a rural area, the outside world doesn’t intrude, whatsoever. However, one has the best of both worlds because the full facilities of the resort city are close at hand. Go just outside the front gates and you can take a songtaaw (cheap baht bus taxi) and easily visit all the local attractions, like the shopping malls of Royal Garden or Big C and the boutiques and fine-dining restaurants, or the exciting night life Pattaya has to offer. Within easy walking distance is the beach and Tops Supermarket with its upper floor housing a modern bookshop, massage parlour and recreational facilities.

However, one doesn’t need to leave the hotel to experience a soothing massage, or any of the other treatments available in the hotel spa. “Tammachart” is the name of the spa, meaning “Natural”. As we entered the spa area, we were immediately cocooned in the heady aromas of the natural oils used in the Aromatherapy treatments. This produced immediate relaxation, without one even having to indulge in the spa treatments, themselves. The management obviously employed astute psychological consultants for the treatment room is green, the optimal colour of relaxation. The recessed lighting makes you want to immediately recline on a soft leather couch, close your eyes and experience the soothing touch of a body massage or reflexology. Now isn’t that just what you would come to the Land of Smiles to experience An ultra-soothing massage to ease away the cares of the world and refresh body and soul in convivial surroundings, overlooking the pool.

We could easily have stayed by the spa pool area for the rest of the evening, but our interests were aroused by the prospect of being able to explore what other facilities the hotel has to offer, especially the succulent food that we had been kindly invited to sample by the ultra-accommodating GM. On our way to the Coffee Shop, we passed the impressive Conference Room, which is multi-functional and can host everything from private business meetings to wedding receptions.

When we reached the Coffee Shop, our nostrils were immediately enchanted by the delicious food aromas and our gastric juices began flowing with anticipation. The spread was splendid, with virtually every dish imaginable; they even had a Seafood B.B.Q, outside. The waiters were highly attentive, and we wanted for nothing. The food so entranced our palates that we made journey after journey to the food tables, so much so, that we have to confess that we over-indulged, somewhat.

On further questioning, we discovered that Mr. Lars, the highly experienced General Manager has been in hotel business for more than 15 years and it shows. And we can speak knowledgably, having experienced at first hand the generous, welcoming hospitality exuded by himself and his genial staff. He chose Thailand, recognising it to be the destination par excellence in South East Asia. A wise choice and one fully supported by the effective public relations, which ensures the hotel is fully booked, every weekend.

Once again, many thanks to Mr Lars, his staff and Accor Hotels for their kind generosity in allowing us to sample the affordable comfort and splendid amenities All Seasons has to offer. We shall only be too pleased to further review this superb hotel in the future. We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending All Seasons to all our readers. Related story
