Ailing Thai queen’s heartbeat returns to normal

BANGKOK, Oct 2 -- Thailand's ailing revered Queen Sirikit, admitted to a top Bangkok hospital late Thursday, has returned to normal health with her heartbeat functioning normally, according to an announcement released by Royal Household Bureau.

The statement said the Queen, who was admitted at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, operated by the Thai Red Cross and the Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Medicine, late Thursday night on doctors’ advice for a detailed medical checkup, condition is now improving and her heartbeat was seen normal after doctors treated her with ultra high frequency radio waves.

The Queen celebrated her 78th birthday on August 12.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej who is receiving treatment and staying at Siriraj Hospital, visited her Friday evening.

The much revered monarch wore a pale blue shirt, a blue suit jacket, and a pair of grey trousers.

Coming from his room on the 16th floor of a Siriraj Hospital building in a wheelchair, His Majesty the King then left in a royal motorcade, reaching Chulalongkorn Hospital at 5pm, and then proceeded to the 20th floor of the Sirikit Building to visit Her Majesty the Queen.

On Saturday morning, get-well books for the public, on the first floor of the Sirikit Building and the 10th floor for senior government officials, were readied by the hospital and the Royal Household Bureau..

Prime Minister Ahisit Vejjajiva and his wife, and Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, led the public to sign get-well books for the Queen
