African Fraud Gang Caught Red Handed In Pattaya

Police officers have arrested an African gang after they had tricked  Thai girls via Internet. The total   damage was about 10 million baht.

PATTAYA-14th  February, 2015- [Pattaya Daily News] at 10.30 am Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong Niemnoi-commander of Chonburi-, Pol.Col.Pratchaya Prasansuk-deputy commander-, Pol.Col.Trairong Piewpan-deputy commander-, Pol.Col.Suktad Pumpanmuang-superintendent of Pattaya police station-, Pol.Col.Chitdecha Songhong-deputy superintendent of Na Jomtien police station- and police officers made a  statement about the arrest of a transnational fraud gang after they had tricked  Thai girls to transfer money to them via the Internet.

 

The offenders were identified as  Mr.Williams Chinwedu NNA aged 39  Mr.Kemmeth Ovuegbe aged 40 Mr.Emmanuel Onyedikachi Iromuanya aged 32  Mr.Uchechukwu Nwaogu aged 30 Mr.Mater Ukwugu aged 26  Mr.Udoji Fidelis Anaekwe) aged 31 from Nigeria and Mr.Kofi Mensah aged 37 from Ghana. They were arrested with 7 laptops, 11 phones and 3 tablets.

 

Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong revealed that the police  found out that these men had tricked  Thai girls to transfer money to their accounts. The men chatted with the victims via FACEBOOK and other dating websites. They used pictures of handsome European men which they uploaded onto their profiles. In addition, they also claimed that they were engineers and worked for an oil company and they were going to retire here and wanted to marry  Thai women.

 

Later they told the victims that they would send ornaments which were valued about 1 million baht to the girls but the ornaments couldn’t pass customs so they asked the girls to send  100,000-200,000 baht to pay for the import tax. In another case, they invited the victims to invest with them and they guaranteed that the victims could get a very good return. There were about 100 victims and the total amount of money was  approximately 10 million baht. Later the police officers found out that they all stayed at L.V. apartment in South Pattaya so they went to arrest them.

 

However, the police officers prosecuted them on charge of illegal immigration and the police also summoned the victims to the police station and anyone who has been tricked by the gang should contact the police.
