Thailand scored an important 1-0 victory over Vietnam for their fourth straight victory to sit alone on 12 points.

The Koreans beat Laos 6-0 to lie in third place on nine points, the same as Vietnam but with an inferior head-to-head record.

In the other match, Bangladesh won for the first by beating Macau 3-2.

In a fractious match at Royal Thai Army Stadium, Thailand and Vietnam went at each other knowing that the stakes were high.

Chakrit Ravanprakone scored the winner goal in the 58th minute but the drama did not end there. Six minutes later, Thailand’s Adison Sappaso and Vietnam’s Nguyen Dinh Bao were sent off.

The Vietnamese also had Lam Anh Quang sent off in injury time.

Kim Won-sik scored twice for Korea Republic, who led 2-0 at half-time, through Lee Jae-gwan and Jang Hyun-soo’s penalty.

Ji Dong-won and Lim Jin-uk also scored one each.

Bangladesh recovered from 2-0 down to beat Macau, who earned their lead through a Mohammed Rasel own goal and Leong Ka-hang’s 31st-minute strike.

Mohd Javad reduced the deficit through a 43rd-minute penalty and Habibur Sohag levelled the score three minutes into the second half.

Alam then atoned for his earlier mistake by scoring the winner nine minutes before the final whistle.

The top two teams from each of the seven groups, along with the best third-placed team from East and West, qualify for next year’s finals.
