Accident On 1st Day Of Balloon Competition; Ballooners Safe

At International Balloon Competition, Pattaya, three German ballooners attempted an emergency landing in the middle of Moo Baan after having problem with gas supply. Fortunately, no one got injury.

On 8 December 2007, at 05.00PM, Boon Rawd Company and Pattaya city had organized an International balloon competition, at Pattaya campus of Thamasart University, Moo 8, Pong, Banglamung, Chonburi. During the competition, a balloon from Germany, flying by Mr. Peter van Tarter (31), Mr. Bas Spierenlwig (25) and Mr. Evy Fgpe (22), had a technical problem. The three ballooners had to handle the situation gently and finally landed in the middle of Moo Baan SP. Private, which was about five kilometers away from the releasing position. Fortunately, all ballooners were safe.

Mr. Bas Spierenlwig, one in the German flying team, said that during the balloon was about four hundred meters above the ground, the gas supplier for the balloon started to have problem. Two ballooners in the team and himself attempted to fix the problem but not succeeded. They had low down the balloon slowly before hitting the ground in the middle of a Moo Baan. Luckily, all of them were safe and got no injury.

Later on, the ground authority was informed and all three ballooners with the balloon were taken back to competition administration.
