Academy National Faculty Member To Teach Course In Thailand

DAPHNE, Ala. – United States Sports Academy national faculty member Dr. Reggie Overton will travel to Bangkok, Thailand from 9-13 May 2011 to teach a course in sports facilities and event management, in cooperation with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT). The course is the third in a six-part series to be hosted by the SAT for the Academy’s International Certification in Sports Management (ICSM) program.

For nearly four decades, the Academy has provided programs in sport education to students throughout the nation and to 60 countries worldwide. It has a long-standing relationship with the SAT, which plays a vital role in the development of sports in Thailand.

Dr. Overton is program coordinator of the sports administration graduate program at Virginia State University. He has a doctorate from Temple University, a master’s degree from the United States Sports Academy, and an MBA from Auburn University. He has consulted and taught sports management classes in several countries and has held a variety of positions in college athletic administration.

The United States Sports Academy, known world-wide as “America’s Sports University®”, is an independent, non-profit, accredited, special mission sports university created to serve the nation and the world with programs in instruction, research and service. The role of the Academy is to prepare men and women for careers in the profession of sports.
