Abortion of Foetus Up to 24 Weeks, Can They Feel Pain

New issues of whether or not a foetus of 24 weeks or below can feel pain has been raised in conjunction with the lowering of the current time limit for abortion.

Unfortunately, abortion is necessary in certain circumstances, whether to do with abnormalities or the mothers’ life being at stake, and can cause a lot of anguish and emotional turmoil for the mother, even guilt and depression for some years after, but there are those out there who get pregnant through carelessness and ignorance and think nothing at terminating the pregnancy.  In fact, some young women/ teenagers have been known to have had more than two terminations before they’ve reached their 20’s.

A woman has rights on whether she wants a child or not, the problem is, if she didn’t want babies, then she should have taken proper care before getting pregnant. Hundreds of babies aborted each day are the results of unwanted pregnancies, the results of carelessness and lack of precaution. These women are irresponsible.

The review of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists state that foetuses are undeveloped and sedated for up to 24 weeks and so there is no reason to lower the time limit of abortions.  They went on to say that brain connections are not fully formed and the environment of the womb creates a state of induced sleep, similar to that of unconsciousness.

After all we have been told in the past of the life of a foetus and how it responds to the mothers stress levels and to the sounds outside of the womb such as music and talk, we are now expected to believe that the foetus is semi comatosed and does not feel pain because the nerves are not fully connected and so if a foetus needed surgery, anesthetic would not be required.

Can they really prove this? Would they admit to it if they found it to be untrue?  I think not. Why is it some babies that have been prematurely born at this time of gestation and earlier have survived? Surely if the nerves are not yet connected to the brain at this stage, then the foetus would not be able to breathe for itself if born prematurely? There would be nothing feeding the brain with information telling it to breathe cry or suck etc.

Babies born as early as 22 weeks have been known to have survived, so why are we being told that it is ok to terminate a pregnancy up till 24 weeks. How would a baby born so young know how to do the things that come naturally to them if their brain is not connected?

One has to wonder why these groups and government chop and change their decision whenever it suits them. Knowing that a foetus can survive outside the womb from 22 weeks should be proof enough to make the decision to lower the time limit for abortions.
