A Thai Wife Performed Buddhist Religious Funeral Ceremony For Her British Husband

A British man who loved Thailand so much and had a strong belief in Buddhism told his wife before he died that he wanted her to perform his funeral in the Buddhist way.

SATTAHIP– February 15, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 4.30 p.m. a journalists went to a house no. 300/5 Chok Garden Village Hill, Moo 6 Tambon Phlutaluang, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province, because they were informed that there was a funeral of a foreign man in the Buddhist way. The funeral was for a Mr Allen William Bolle aged 59 a British nationality
The funeral rites were performed at the house for a Mr. Allan William Bolle, aged 59, British nationality (the deceased), who was the ex-employee of a chocolate production factory in Nottingham, England. There were also the arrangement of flowers and joss stick pots in front of the coffin for worshipping the deceased. A picture of Mr. Allan was set beside the coffin and there were so many wreaths from relatives, friends and neighbours who mourned his death. Mrs. Somporn Bolle (the deceased’s wife) had invited 9 monks to pray for his funeral chanting.

Then the relatives and friends revolved the coffin 3 times clockwise the crematory of Khanthamart Mountain temple and then monk Silasarathikhun (the abbot of Khanthamart Mountain temple) preached about a fact of life that everyone have to go through the process of birth, aging, sickness and death which is the cycle of life. After that the Ecclesiastical Commune-Chief of Tambon Sattahip laid down the funeral robe and then performed the cremation ceremony as Thai tradition completely which there was Mrs. Siriporn Pinlom (the Mayoress of Kled Kaew Municipality) was the chairman of the ceremony. There were Mrs. Somporn Bolle, aged 53, who is the deceased’ s wife, together with their nephews named Mr. Steve Bolle, aged 34 and Mr. Adam Bolle, aged 30 and 2 friends of their nephews including their relatives, many Thai and foreign friends and neighbours came to join the ceremony.

Mrs. Somporn Bolle revealed that Mr. Allan William Bolle was an ex-employee of chocolate production factory in Nottingham England and he had come to Thailand with his friends and met Mrs. Somporn then they bought a house together in 2002 and got married in 2005 then Mr. Allan took her to live in England with him and in 2012 Mr. Allan decided to retire from his job and came to live in Thailand permanently. He was a Christian but when he came to live in Thailand he liked to perform the Thai religious rites as a Buddhist.

Mrs. Somporn also said that on December 25, 2013 her husband felt pains in his chest and was unable to breathe so she took him to see the doctor at Sattahip hospital and the doctor indicated that he had a pulmonary oedema disease and had an irregular heartbeat (Tachycardia) so the doctor gave him medicine to reduce the water in his lung and told him to get plenty of rest.

On February 4, 2014 after Mr. Allan had his dinner and then went to sleep as usual but was found dead by his with later that evening. Mrs. Somporn and the neighbours rushed him to hospital but the doctor had diagnosed and indicated he had suffered a heart attack.
