Pattaya, the 15th of November 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 0:15am on Sunday the 15th the Sawang Rodjanatham Foundation received a call asking for some assistance in the Sattahip area, where a man had been severely wounded by a shattered beer bottle. Officers from the foundation attended the scene.

Medical officers arrived to find that a Mr Somsak Peuaksuk age 61, the owner of the house, was lying on the floor with severe lacerations to his right ear and chest. The chest wound was so severe that the gash had opened to a width of over 2cm and ran down the length of his torso for approximately 10cm. Mr Peuaksuk was evidently drunk, but still coherent. The foundation decided that he could not be treated at the scene, quickly rushing him to the nearby hospital of Her Majesty Sirikit (Navy Hospital near Sattahip).

After interrogation Mr Peuaksuk explained that he had been drinking beer with his elder brother, from an early hour in the evening. After a while their two pets, a dog and a fighting chicken started to have a playful tussle. Mr Peuaksuk and his brother stood up to separate the two animals for fear that one of the two may get hurt. A drunken argument commenced over whom was not taking proper care of their animal. The tone of the argument increased until his brother was worked into a rage, hitting Mr Peuaksuk in the head with his beer bottle. The force of the hit caused the bottle to shatter at which time his brother stabbed him in the chest severely injuring him. Family members rushed to Mr Peuaksuk’s aid, calling an ambulance to attend the scene.

As the incident was between family member Mr Peuaksuk has declined to press charges against his brother, so no further investigations will take place.
