A Royal Thai Navy Seaman Was Arrested For Firing A Gun

A seaman of the Royal Thai Navy who was looking after a gun for a friend fired it into the air when a fight broke out outside a pub on 3rd. He was quickly arrested by a patrolling police team

PATTAYA – March 15, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 5.00 a.m., Pol.Capt. Chartree Thepburi (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) and the police team together arrested able Seaman Khomsan Khong-anan, aged 23, from the Royal Thai Navy. In his possession he had 1 hand gun, brand LLAMA size .765 and 7 bullets. He was arrested at the front of Ping Pub on Pattaya third road, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chongburi Province.

Pol.Capt. Chartree revealed that while police teams were patrolling Pattaya city a patrolling team arrived at a pub where they found over 10 male teenagers who were fighting and one of them fired a gun into the air once in order to threaten his rivals. The police then intervened and the shooter tried to flee the scene on foot but was quickly arrested and was still in possession of the gun which was still loaded.

Seaman Khomsan (the defendant) who was drunk confessed that before incident occurred he came to the pub together with his friends but he didn’t know that his friend had a problem with a gang of rivals. After his friends left the pub Mr. Yak had left the gun with him so Seaman Khomsan looked after it for Mr. Yak. When the trouble started he took out the gun to fire into the air once to scare and disperse the rival gang, but he was quickly arrested in possession of the gun and sent to the police station to be prosecuted according to Thai law.
