A pleasant experience trip from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Last Friday (9th March) my friends arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport. To pick them up I had several options. Since global warming and environmental protection are these days an important issue I chose to travel by bus. For Northern or Central Pattaya residents is the service from Roong Rueang Bus Company a good option. Their bus terminal is well known located on North Pattaya Road (Thanon Pattaya Nua) - departure times please read below.

For me as a Jomtien resident, the second option is much more convenient- the Airport Bus from the Transport Co. Ltd. departing from Soi Chaiyaphruek. First departure is 6:00, then 9:00, 13:00, 17:00 and 19:30. From Suvarnabhumi Airport back to Jomtien the bus operating to the same times- except the last bus goes at 20:00. The Jomtien station can be called at 038- 231 142. At Soi Chaiyaphruek there isn’t a bus terminal but the busses leave in front of a townhouse close to the beach. A number of food stalls and some nice little restaurants are around, such as Potillo’s Open Lounge across the road. That sweetened my time until departure because I didn’t like the wooden bench at the townhouse station.

The yellow Mercedes-Benz busses are new and clean. Also one little detail impressed me- the seat numbers are displayed like inside an airplane above the seat. This makes boarding much faster and I remember scenes on Roong Rueang busses where people couldn’t find their seats for minutes and ended up in arguments and improper manners because the seat number was written on the backside of each seat.

The bus departed on time and I positively realized that this bus went straight to the new airport without stopping many times on the way. The driver’s behavior on the road was good as well- he drove efficiently fast without leading anybody into danger. I used to drive 40-tonnes gasoline trucks for many years back home, so that’s why traffic on the road catches my nerves here sometimes. In fact the bus reached the Suvarnabhumi bus terminal after 1 hour and 40 minutes. That was a quick journey without any hassle.

After I stepped off the bus at the terminal I could find the shuttle busses to go to the arrival hall (Level 2) easily. Just the information inside the bus was a bit confusing because it didn’t explain the stops clearly. The shuttle bus has neither a visual sign of the upcoming stop nor any announcement what the next stop will be.

While waiting for my friends at the arrival hall (Level 2) I discovered an information counter of Public Transportation Center. There I picked up a brochure written in English with very useful information such as Airport Bus Express Service, Bangkok Metropolitan Bus Lines and other Intercity Bus Connections. The Public Transportation Center can be reached at 0-2132 9111 or 0-2130 0002.

The departure times from Roong Rueang Bus Company at North Pattaya Road are: 6:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00 and the last one at 19:00. Further information is available at 038-429 877. Fun fact: Why both companies need to depart to almost the same times
