A Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Incident

A man died after being struck by a pick-up truck in a hit-and-run incident at a traffic light in Naklua.

Pattaya, 22nd April 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 11.30 p.m. Police Lieutenant, Wissanu KamNoenmuang was informed of a hit-and-run accident at the red light junction in Moo.2, Naklua.  The police hurried to the crime scene along with the rescued team.

At the scene the body of 47-year-old Mr. Somjai Nokjaeng of Nontaburi was found lying prone next to his red and black Honda motorbike, which was located nearby to the car of a papaya-salad vendor, Mr. Nattayod Sansom, 35.

 

While the victim was turning into Soi Nong Ket Yai, a speeding pick-up truck ran the red light and hit the victim, knocking him off the motorbike, the vendor described the incident as witnessed.

The driver of the truck did not stop at the scene, he added.

At a later stage, the police found the truck abandoned at Bannawang School in Banglamung.  The vehicle was seized as evidence for further investigation.
